DUPLICATED TEXT FROM – DJ Keith Wilkie
Born in Barrow-in-Furness in the early 80s. Grew up on Ormsgill estate.
Ormsgill community centre was my first gig, covering or helping my best friend do the kids disco on a Friday evening for a few hours, definitely the highlight of the week. Kept me out of trouble back in 1997. One thing led to another. Then 1 day a top local club was advertising for a DJ. I was 16 working for my dad in his garage. When I rang the phone number, didn’t think I had a chance to be honest…but got the job. Never looked back. That place was The new 99 Cabaret club, this opened the nightlife world for me and the opportunities. The list of places I haven’t DJ’d in would be a-lot shorter than the list I have. The types of music I play vary alot as I’m in so many different places with my freelance work! But mainly chart, RnB, dance, house, pop, party, cheese, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s.
Currently resident at Hollywood on a Friday night!
Favourite Barrow Party Bars Venue
My favourite venue would have to be Manhattans because it has so much history in the town, opens late and capacity is greater than all the others. Always a good atmosphere with the PA and light show. The SESS!ONS nights held by fellow DJ and best friend ZUN!E are always a good night too.
